Public Service Broadcasting: Every Valley Live

Public Service Broadcasting are a band that know how to polarise opinion. If people get it, they really get it. I’ve found if they don’t, they really don’t. If you’ve not yet attained ‘I really get/don’t get this’ status and are currently unaware of the PSB shtick, it runs as follows: they look like they’re on university lecturer day release; bow ties and corduroy jackets abound. Vision: Public Service Broadcasting, Progress

Public Service Broadcasting today share the video for the current single Progress. Directed by Lucy Dawkins and Tom Readdy, previous collaborators of the band on their videos for Sputnik and Go! and produced by Yes Please Productions, the video is a playful look at a serious and pertinent topic, namely mechanisation and its true place in the ‘progress’ of humanity. The clip is inspired by sixties’ cold war films and was filmed in a jet engine testing facility in Suffolk, itself a nod to the band’s past with debut album track Spitfire, written about the design and construction of the famous fighter plane. Given that Progress nods to Kraftwerk, the band...

The fate of The Cellars is being replicated across the country and you don’t need to have lost your local venue to feel the effects. Emerging artists need somewhere to play other than between ad breaks on Saturday evening TV....

The Music Venue Trust (MVT), a registered charity created in January 2014 to protect the UK live music network by securing the long-term future of grassroots music venues, has declared the full line up of artists to appear at the FIGHTBACK! fundraising gig being held at Camden’s iconic Roundhouse (a venue that has been saved from closure several times over the years) on Tuesday 18th October. The final list of acts that will perform across three stages is headlined...
