Global pop superstar and music world darling Lorde is back with sophomore album Melodrama, out on June 16th through Universal Music. Lead single Green Light was released on March 2nd to whet our collective appetites. A final preview of Melodrama is due to surface at midnight tonight. (Hint, it might be new cut Sober!)

In 2013, a 16-year-old Lorde quietly, yet confidently asserted herself as the voice of a generation with her full-length debut, Pure Heroine. The album would go triple-platinum, win two GRAMMY® Awards, and spawn the seven-times platinum record-breaking international juggernaut single, Royals, and quadruple-platinum follow up Team. The former cemented Lorde as the youngest solo artist and the only New Zealander to achieve #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1987.

During the intervening period, Lorde curated the official soundtrack for blockbuster film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and recorded Yellow Flicker Beat as the album’s lead single. She also joined other huge female stars St. Vincent, Joan Jett and Kim Gordon to front the remaining members of Nirvana during their induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame with a rousing performance of the group’s 1993 single All Apologies.

Now 20, Lorde has truly grown in her formidable talent. Her forthcoming second studio album is one of the most anticipated records of the year. Produced by Lorde, the esteemed Jack Antonoff and Frank Dukes, the album was recorded between Jack’s flat and Electric Lady Studios.

Following a string of UK shows through 2013 and 2014, she returned to UK shores at the behest of David Bowie‘s family to perform her spellbinding tribute to the late artist at the 2016 Brit Awards, having once been described by the Starman himself as “the future of music”.

Following a rousing return to the UK stage in May as part of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, she’s back for an Other Stage set at this month’s Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, Somerset before returning in September for a full UK and European tour, kicking off in Manchester and including a massive Alexandra Palace stop in London. We can hardly wait!
