Julia Jacklin’s debut record Don’t Let The Kids Win is to be released on Transgressive on October 7th 2016. This will be accompanied big time by a North American & European tour including lives dates with Whitney.

The song Leadlight is filmed and directed by Julia and she told RockShot Magazine;

“I filmed this in my old High School hall in the Blue Mountains. A lot of the shots focus on the stage where I performed in the chorus for Grease and Fiddler on the Roof and the unfortunate time I chose to sing Wonderwall to a backing CD for a senior assembly. I went back there recently and saw the hall in a whole new light. When I was at school I never really thought about it, it was just a boring school hall that I was forced to sit in for long assemblies and exams. Now I think it’s actually a really beautiful space, the wood detailing and the dramatic red curtains. Thought it would be nice to go back there and try and capture that on film.”

Having garnered high praise after her performances at SXSW and The Great Escape, and more recently a string of sold out tour dates throughout Australia and Europe, the Australian-born singer/songwriter is poised to have a breakout year.

Jacklin will tour extensively throughout the UK, Europe and North America with a headline show in London at The Lexington on 31st August 2016. She has also been invited to perform as a special guest of Marlon Williams in the US and Whitney in the UK and Europe. Full list of dates below.

Hailing from the Australian Blue Mountains, Julia Jacklin is a guitarist and singer like no other. Her music courses with the aching current of alt-country and indie-folk, augmented by her undeniable calling cards: her rich, distinctive voice, and her playful, observational wit.

For the past several years Jacklin has lived in a garage in Glebe (a suburb of Sydney), working a day job on a factory production line making essential oils, all the while finding time to hone her craft – to examine her turns of phrase, to observe the stretching of her friendship circles, to wonder who she was and who she might become.

And now, as Jacklin quits her factory job to focus solely on a music career, the future she had once imagined is becoming her present day reality. “It feels really good to be getting closer to my first album release,” says Jacklin, “it has been a very long dream of mine.”
