ShitKid, the anti-popstar from Sweden, is back with Yooouuu.
The first single from upcoming EP This Is It channels ‘90s grunge as it describes the ending of a relationship and obsessing over crossing paths with the ex.
“The video for Yooouuu was recorded during one day in Malmö by my art director/road manager, Moa Romanova who recently became friends with Elias, the cute guy who also stars in the video,” explains ShitKid, AKA Åsa Söderqvist.
“We had decided we wanted a cheesy love-video for the song and filmed it at the cold beach, at Elias’ home and walking the streets of Malmö whilst getting wasted. Some parts are shot at the ‘afterparty’. We had fun.”
This Is It, which follows debut LP Fish, is ShitKid’s third EP and finds her embracing a broader sound while retaining the lo-fi quality she’s known for. Performed, recorded, and produced by Söderqvist alone in her bedroom, car, and rehearsal space, it continues her DIY approach to music, with one concession: mixing and mastering was done by Luke Reilly.
Since appearing on the Scandinavian music scene in spring 2016, ShitKid has toured Europe extensively and appeared at festivals like The Great Escape, Way Out West, and Roskilde.
This Is It is released on 19th January 2018.
