Local music groups are being sought to perform at a new event that’s part of Goldsmiths MA Radio course. Each year, Masters of Arts Radio students are challenged to create programmes in the style of a variety of radio genres, such as music and speech and, this year, there is a brand new category – live music event.

The event will see the MAs bring together musicians and musical ensembles for a programme of short performances in the early evening, which will be transmitted, live on the internet, together with interviews with the performers.

Robert Freeman, Associate Lecturer – Radio & Journalism, told Rockshot Mag: “We need to contact people involved with, probably, local music groups who’d like to be part of this exciting new venture. We already have some students groups who’ll do some pre-recorded sessions earlier in the day, but we’d really like to host an external group for the evening live programme. “This could be a great way for a young group to increase its exposure and get its music out there, so any help our staff and students can give with spreading the word about this in the local music scene would be greatly appreciated.”

Ideally bands will be between five and fifteen members, those groups who are more orchestral in structure are especially desirable. Bands who are invited will be performing in The Great Hall in the Richard Hoggart Building at Goldsmiths University, New Cross, SE14 6NU on Monday 5th February 2018.
