Festival: Glastonbury 2017, Start Planning Those Clashes!

For those lucky enough to bag tickets to this year’s pre-furlough year Glastonbury Festival, there was a ticking clock until the end of May, when the majority of stage times are usually released each year. So while we may all have known the big and small names that would be appearing, deciding exactly who to see on each day begins now. And boy are there some major clashes! Those familiar with the festival site will appreciate just how large-scale it is. Boasting over 100 stages, it takes a good while to travel between them and find a spot to watch...

Live: Ward Thomas @ O2 Shepherds Bush Empire

In support of their sophomore album Cartwheels, twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas brought their brand of Hampshire based Anglo-Nashville country music to the multiple-tiered beauty of the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on Wednesday night. The new record, which holds the distinction of being the first country release to make number one in the UK Top Forty album chart, is a move away from some of the twangy Americana found on the debut, From Where We Stand. An altogether smoother, more pop-oriented sound envelops the new record. The most obvious comparison is that of Taylor Swift. Depending on...

Live: Glastonbury 2016 – Mud, Brexit and All-English Headliners

Described by festival founder Michael Eavis as the muddiest ever Glastonbury, revellers can at least be thankful that the rain was largely kept at bay during the four festival days, although a torrential spell during Friday, a good downpour over that night, and some drizzle here and there over the remaining days ensured Worthy Farm’s famous mud was kept topped up. Hell, this year’s edition is probably just as memorable and mentioned for its sludge-like mud as for any of the bands, the resulting substance described by one as a kind of chocolate mousse. Attendees can also be thankful for...
