Video: The Joy Formidable. Last Thing On My Mind

Ritzy Bryan front woman of The Joy Formidable wrote about the song and the video: The Last Thing On My Mind was written and recorded in the summer of 2014 at our North Walian studio the Red Brick, just outside of Mold in Clwyd. It has the feel and sentiment of a lot of the tracks from our new album, it talks about feeling alive, being free and this track in particular touches upon sexual liberation; specifically about a woman’s carnal imagination. We’re big on making our own music videos, so last month we started collecting footage & finishing the...

Photography: The Joy Formidable @ The Roundhouse

One of my favourite and most challenging bands to photograph. I love their sound and trying to keep up with lead singer and guitarist Ritzy Bryan is a bit like trying to hit a moving target. The band musically are stuck somewhere between stadium rock and good old indie rock and roll. I think the venue size does make a difference to their performance and whilst they are energetic and polished the Roundhouse is not the best place for them to show off. The Joy Formidable have always been into their fans and great them like old friends and...

Wychwood Festival, held at Cheltenham Racecourse, announce that The Strypes will be taking to their main-stage. The four-piece Irish rock band started playing together before they were even teenagers, relentlessly gigging around Ireland and quickly becoming the hottest ticket in any town. Taking inspiration from the likes of Elvis Costello, The Stones, The Jam and many more, The Continue Reading

I like the Roundhouse. If you can accept the compromised sight lines and sound, there’s something kind of cool about watching a band in an engine shed. It’s run by a charitable trust, which means it’s looked after; your feet don’t stick to the floor. Tonight, the giant dome is hosting the NME Awards Tour 2017, sponsored by VO5 – Continue Reading
