Live : Travis @ The Forum, Kentish Town

I think its fair to say that Fran Healy likes a guitar; I wasn’t counting but it did appear that the Travis lead singer pretty much swapped guitars every song through tonight’s performance. This is in no way a criticism, but it does demonstrate that the bands trusted reliance on a variety of stringed instruments to create their jangly breezy hooks shows no sign of abating, a fact that will have probably delighted most of tonight’s audience. And given the reaction they got, I don’t blame them for sticking with it. Whether it’s the older classics like Driftwood, or...

Live: Travis @ The Lexington.

Live Review: Travis @ The Lexington. Travis are probably not the first band that springs to mind in 2016, but with their eight studio album, Everything at Once, set for release on the 29th April, the band are still exerting themselves on the music scene.  This week saw the BRIT award winners play two back-to-back shows on the same night at north London’s intimate The Lexington. It’s been almost 20 years since the four-piece, led by frontman Fran Healy on vocals and guitar, released their debut album Good Feeling.  Mainstream success quickly followed which drew both new fans and critics in...

Live: Half Moon Run @ Roundhouse

Playing their biggest headline show to date, Montréal-based indie rockers Half Moon Run returned to Camden, albeit the Chalk Farm end, just a few months after their explosive Koko show following the release of their second studio album Sun Leads Me On. Yes, I went along to their Koko show (read all about that one here) and immediately went out Continue Reading

I like the Roundhouse. If you can accept the compromised sight lines and sound, there’s something kind of cool about watching a band in an engine shed. It’s run by a charitable trust, which means it’s looked after; your feet don’t stick to the floor. Tonight, the giant dome is hosting the NME Awards Tour 2017, sponsored by VO5 – Continue Reading
