It’s that time again! That time when the excitement starts to build up for next summer even before Christmas is upon us and the year is out. BBK Live have confirmed another stellar initial line-up for 2017’s 12th edition.
The Basque festival, set in the Kobetamendi hills above the city of Bilbao enjoyed an awesome line-up in 2016 including the likes of Arcade Fire, Pixies, Foals and Tame Impala. 2017 is set to raise the game again with Las Vegas rockers The Killers and South African rap-rave outfit Die Antwoord added to a line-up already featuring 1980’s English electronic stars Depeche Mode and French electro-rockers Phoenix.
English electronic music pioneers Depeche Mode were the first confirmed headliners for BBK Live 2017, still selling out arenas around the world, they continue to innovate. With 14th studio album Spirit due out early next year, expect a good mix of hits past and future during what will be a set not to be missed.
Las Vegas rockers The Killers have been absent from the European circuit since 2014 return in 2017 with a vinyl re-issue of debut record Hot Fuss. The Brandon Flowers-led four-piece bring with them a catalogue of huge hits which are so ingrained in popular culture, their set is destined to be one for the masses to singalong to for sure.
BBK Live 2017 also marks the first confirmed outing for the Thomas Mars-led Phoenix since wrapping up their Bankrupt! tour in December 2014, a tour which also included a stop at BBK Live. While no further news is forthcoming on new material, this bodes well for a follow-up to Bankrupt! and their hit-filled 2009 record Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
Co-headlining with Phoenix will be the County Down-based Irish indie poppers Two Door Cinema Club. Following two hit records released in 2010 and 2012, this year saw the release of their third studio album effort, Gameshow. Summer festival fare at its best, Two Door Cinema Club will no doubt bring their A-game.
Pacific Northwestern indie folk band Fleet Foxes, Canadian Dan Snaith’s latest moniker Daphni, Life and Death label head DJ Tennis, and Italian duo Marvin & Guy will also appear.
