With just under two months to go, Margate’s By The Sea is shaping up to be one of the most exciting festivals that 2016 has to offer. Joining the likes of Wolf Alice, Super Furry Animals, Bat For Lashes and Wild Beasts at the iconic Dreamland theme park in Margate this Autumn will be none other than the legendary Jarvis Cocker. The Pulp frontman and quintessentially British icon will be donning his straw boater and DJing at the dodgems this year in a rare and exclusive appearance.

Taking place over Friday 30th September – Sunday 2nd October, By the Sea is the only UK festival that combines big name artists and the hottest rising bands amidst a unique British setting: the iconic Dreamland Margate amusement park.

In addition to the stellar music line up, guests will be able to run riot across the theme park’s many attractions, including the Hurricane Jets and Big Top rides, the Monotopia monorail and the vintage arcade room.

Dreamland Margate provides a distinctive setting for live music, with last year’s headlinersFoals and Hot Chip playing in historic rooms such as the Roller Room and The Ballroom. This time around, the event adds the spacious Hall By The Sea. Initially the home of a dance hall and a variety entertainment show in the late 19th century, the venue has seen performances from such legendary artists as The Who, Rolling Stones, T-Rex and Hawkwind.

Weekend tickets are available now at £67.50. Once again day and weekend tickets include access to the restored, recreated and retro-fitted Dreamland amusement park, with new rides added all the time. Last year, tickets for Foals’ headline day sold out in mere minutes, and with such a winning combination of location and line up, tickets for this year’s event are set to sell out just as fast.

By The Sea is part of a unique period of regeneration in the Margate’s history. The seaside town is again becoming a haven for musicians and other artists away from the hustle and price tag of the big city, with many drawn to town because of its coastal location, relative affordability and more laidback ambience. By The Sea unites both the town’s glorious past and its burgeoning future by combining new visionaries and contemporary talent with a venue with a celebrated heritage.

By The Sea at Dreamland Margate is a special event for fans, locals and artists alike. This is the second chapter in what we hope will become a landmark event in the festival calendar.A list of available accommodation options is available here.
