Ladyhawke aka Pip Brown has just announced the release of her third album Wild Things to be released on June 3rd 2016 via Mid Century Records

The first single, to be revealed as an animated lyric video, is Sweet Fascination and it’s a glorious return to form for the one-woman synth-pop outfit whose self titled debut 2008 album peaked at No. 16 on the U.K. album charts and No. 1 in Australia and New Zealand’s album charts.

Pip Brown told us about the track “Sweet Fascination is about a guy suffering from an all consuming obsession. It’s a song I think people might be able to relate to – obsessions can take over your mind and sometimes drive you crazy.”

The animated pixel art lyric video for Sweet Fascination is by pixel artist Paul Robertson whom Brown spotted during an episode of watching The Simpsons

“I was watching the Simpsons one day and was blown away by a particular couch gag scene. You know the bit at the very beginning of the Simpsons where they all run to the couch? Well sometimes they get guest artists to interpret that scene in their own style. This particular one I was watching all of a sudden transformed into this mind blowing trippy pixel art sequence. It completely blew me away, so much so that I watched it over and over on YouTube. He’s an incredibly talented artist, his use of colour and dreamy repetitious sequences are a perfect fit for my music.”

It’s been five years since Ladyhawke’s last album, Anxiety, which yielded the stand-out, synch-friendly single, Blue Eyes. Like its predecessor, the album charted in the U.K.’s Top 40 and in Australia’s and New Zealand’s Top 20, respectively.

“People wonder why there’s always a massive gap between my albums,” says Pip, “The reason is both complicated and easy. The simple explanation: I’ve never released anything I’m not proud of. That’s important to me. I wanted this album to reflect the frame of mind I was in when creating it. I tried very hard to change my life for the better, and to create a positive and bright environment to exist in. This album really is a reflection of the headspace I found myself in after achieving this. Colourful is one word in particular that springs to mind.”

“I think I went even more synthy and poppy this time around,” Brown says of the buoyant Wild Things. “I feel good for the first time in 10 years. I have a clear mind! I have a wife. I feel stable. That is what I’m celebrating.”

Ladyhawke will be touring this summer and fans who pre-order the album via the Ladyhawke shop will be able to buy tickets for the June UK tour before anyone else here: http://smarturl.it/LadyhawkeStore
